In Sync with Lil Prodigy – interviewed by Mpho Sindane

It’s that time again we get up close and personal with one of your favourite SA CHH creatives, and on today’s In Sync we are joined by Lil Prodigy from Pietermaritzburg.  The SA CHH rapper and 2020 SABC Crown Gospel Nominee shares the heart behind his music ministry.

Born as Larnelle Grobler, Lil Prodigy accounts how his mom named him after the gospel artist Larnelle Harris. His Christian background is what eventually led to his salvation and even his rap career. He started penning at a young first in poetry but gradually God led him to rhythm and poetry. The 24-year-old rapper may be fairly new to the industry with only being in SA CHH for over a year, but he has already released 4 singles (Dreams, Amen, Life like this, On the Move), 1 EP(Mutatis) and he recently dropped a mixtape titled The Catalyst. His music is fresh and rooted in the word of God, his flow with his producer is a match that will set tracks aflame, as the beats suit the style he is defining with every new project. It is no wonder he suggests we look out for his producer who is known to SACHH nation as Kai the Dragon, the upcoming artist Craig who he also features in Catalyst mixtape along with Duane J.

Lil Prodigy shared that he is more of a house music person and suggest we listen to a Christian DJ and label mate who is on his playlist Waynoz the DJ. Waynoz the DJ has also been producing some of the beats for Lil Prodigy amplifying the name of the record label 3 Cord Collective. The young artist is a humble cat that wants to lead the listener into seeking the One and Only True God, his lyrics show that he does his homework and isn’t taken by the fads and fashions of the current Hip Hop style, which is refreshing to the true Christian hip hop culturist, and that merged with sound doctrine made simple is a recipe of promising music ministry.
