King Smasher has followed his last EP with another titled Gregoria, which has is a ten tracked EP that is available on all major digital platforms. We got a chance to talk with him about the heart and the making of the album.
They started working on the project at, end of the last year, “I think what inspired this project was all of my previous projects before this one, I wanted to do something different and something very versatile and that it was what I and the team went for with this project, we just wanted something bigger than anything I’ve ever dropped before,” explained King Smasher. The team of Ezee Mimo (Adin Moore), T45 Beatz (Tyrese Sineker), FaaBeats (Fadiel Moosa) and the Living Legacy Movement worked on making Gregoria it is. It is a fresh sound of South Africa, from the influences of piano to drill, the slight hand of trap soul.
Loving On You has already been a favourite and it’s been getting so much and most people seem to love that song. However, the song that resonates the most with the artist is Story of a 26-Year-Old, “this song really comes from such a deep place and I just wanted to be vulnerable and open with people about where I was at when I wrote this song,” elaborated the artist. You might recognise two songs off the tracklist that were dropped as a single earlier (Bossy and Loving On You), Loving on you also had a dance challenge that is still on TikTok, and has had a few people hop on in it, take a listen to the whole album and while you’re at it join his Love You piano challenge.
His hometown had the privilege to get to see him perform the album live and free on the very street he grew up on, if you want to catch him live and are in the area he will be performing at Rock City DMC in Mitchells Plain or catch him online on this Sunday at Stage Presence Online Event. For more info or if you want to book him connect with him on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, or email email@example.com.
